Well, I'd have to disagree with Mobius....the dreamcast was excellent, it just had terrible timing. Aside from that, I don't think so, especially if we're taking hand helds. the Game Gear was terrible.
Then again, I am talking to a member using the name of Sonic's world as a screen name, so I would assume he's a SEGA fan. Also, Mobius, how come you act normal here, but on another forum, you trolled the ****ing hell out me? |

Master System, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast. All amazing hardware. What was wrong with the Game Gear's hardware? It was the only thing of its kind, and don't forget the Sega Nomad. Cool stuff. I think you're somehow confusing "hardware" with "marketability." And Mobius is an environmental process of natural recycling. This is why it is used in the Sonic games, and yeah, why my avatar is a hedgehog.

Yeah, I guess you're right, the hardware wasn't why they didn't sell.

Though genesis and dreamcast was good, SEGA got themselves in debt. And in general, people only bought the Genesis because of Sonic, be cause Nintendo was only like 20% from owning the entire gaming market. |

Oh, and let's not rule out the possibility that this Ringedge stuff is just a new arcade board.

Im not trying to prove anything, but SEGA obviously didnt have that great of consoles since most of them failed horribly.

No, their consoles were always great. Their business frame and marketing plans were horrible, though.

^this
I had a huge post explaining each and every sega console and how excellent the hardware is but my internet had to quit when I hit "post Reply" so it's gone and I don't feel like re-writing it. You guys should seriously take into consideration how greatly the consoles were built, and really? I'm sorry to some of you but how old are you? I believe most of you weren't even around for the saturn or genesis, let alone the game gear or master system. Hell, I wasn't around for the master system or game gear but I've done plenty and plenty of research out of interest to learn more about those consoles. I don't mean to kick you guys now but it's a well known fact that you should know your facts for yourself before you make assumptions on what you've heard. Who here actually has a Saturn or a Dreamcast for that matter? (I know zero does). Can you really just look at what appeared to go down and say it sucks because of it? Saturn didn't sell well since fans and stores were ticked at sega for bad marketing with the clutter of consoles and add-ons. Certain stores made pacts to refuse sales of saturns because of it. Not only that, saturn was released 6 months early or something without warning and this was not very good marketing in the north americas. However, Sega played all it's cards right and saturn was a hit in japan. Great marketing there. People liked the advertisements and bought saturns as a result. Not only that, people actually played the console there and their friends played it and they loved it for the console it was. Most of the great saturn games were japan exclusives for this reason and japan also got many different versions of the console and all that good stuff. Saturn also had some of the greatest RPGS and Fighters ever. Learn your facts please and actually play a decent chunk of the saturn library before you make assumptions please. I don't think we need a dreamcast history check really, but it was actually not so much bad marketing this time as it was that P.O.S PS2 selling a DVD player in its console marketing it as the worlds cheapewst DVD player. Makes me wonder how Dreamcast would have done with a DVD player. Dreamcast was also epicly revolutionary for it being the first online gaming console. Bottom line is please get your facts first, remember that things aren't always as they seem and go read some wiki pages, sega history pages, watch videos at least and learn the facts for yourself(and no, some random dude spreading an opinion on how sega sucks is not reliable )
